Our challenge was to develop a new identity for NBC Sports Regional Networks’ signature news and highlights show, SportsNet Central. With SportsNet Central airing across the country on different CSN regional sports networks, the identity was to be built with national entertainment prestige while catering to local sensibilities, including team colors and iconography.
A SportsNet Central logo was developed to anchor the identity, with abstractions of the logo acting as design elements throughout the show. Universal elements – opens, franchise systems, bumps and transitions – established a cohesive SportsNet Central identity and palette across all regions, while team-specific elements were built in a framework for each of CSN’s local channels to easily customize for their audience. Developed within the same creative foundation as the show package, promotional elements were built to immediately catch the eye, inform viewers, and drive tune-in.
